We are still blown away by a talk this week at the National Library called Gagana Deutsch, written and presented by archivist Uili Fecteau.

As a frontline member of Archives NZ and art historian, Fecteau shared with a large audience, his passion upon discovering and working with the German Samoan collection held at Archives New Zealand, Wellington, and the Samoan Archives, Apia.
Part of Samoan Language Week, Fecteau’s talk was both informative and incredible, given the rich archival entropy that these materials are part of.
To your right, is a map of Europe c.1914, written in Samoan.
Ae a, o le gagana matagofie o fa’aSamoa na tusi i aso anamua.
Cool, eh? How buzzy.
