Today, our friend, Ron Brownson, an exceptional human, font of knowledge, including art and also of cooking and how to make people feel listened to and treasured, died.
We met him like most people, through his role as Senior Curator New Zealand and Pacific Art at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki (AAG). He was always kind, compassionate, witty and most of all, generous. We were gobsmacked when he came to our 12-hour show, Dead Mileage, featuring artist Jeremy Leatinu’u and curated by Louise Tu’u, on East Street, Auckland Central in 2011. We were even more surprised and honoured when he wrote about it on the AAG’s website here.
We will miss bumping into you Ron and having exquisite chats about life, love and art. Manuia le malaga xx
