Bike Burb Hui

Yesterday, we ventured out to Hub West in Henderson to meet and hang out with other bike interested people at Bike Auckland’s Bike Burb Hui. According to Bike Auckland, Bike Burbs are a grassroots movement of community-led groups who come together around a vision of their neighbourhood as a bike-friendly place. Here are some great resources to use and share.

We met and chatted with some awesome people, had great food and the chance to listen to a wonderful and informative talk by Jessica Rose, who shared her combined experience of organising multiple cycling events in Auckland and being a two-term local board member, in how to approach local boards as regular people and maintain relationships which strengthen cycling discussions and futures in local communities. The event was a great opportunity to hang out with like-minded people from all over the city, laugh and discuss cycling lyfe.

We were also lucky to be offered beautiful merchandise, reminding us to keep pushing for movements like “Liberate The Lane” and to add reflective whimsy in the slice of bike safety pizzas, designed by Paper Roads. Ours is a Margherita, our favourite to eat in real life.

Thank you Teva, Fiain, Angie, Karen, Duncan, Charmaine of Bike Auckland and all the lovely people we reconnected with and met for the first time. See you cycling!
