Kia ora koutou!

Here is our awesome second speaker for “Brown Womxn Who Cycle”: the inimitable Tiffany Robinson.

Spaces are filling fast, as it’s only 8 days away on Saturday 26th August 1.30-3pm, so if you’re a womxn of colour who’s keen to cycle, register here. Bring your bike if you like, meet and engage with awesome people, like Tiffany and break bread together too.

In her own words, Tiffany Robinson shares what inspires her and why she cycles.

I’m a first generation born Black American who has been living in Tāmaki Makaurau since 2018. My family, led by my grandmother, emigrated from Jamaica to Yonkers, New York back in the 70s. I grew up as a Catholic schoolgirl and a Pentecostal homegirl. This foundation is the basis for my business Well-Watered Fruit and radio show, Well-Watered Joy on Planet FM 104.6 Auckland.

I am a transport planner for Arup and have over 17 years of planning experience in the public and private sector, primarily in transportation planning and community outreach, both here and abroad. I am a Women in Urbanism Aotearoa Committee member with a passion for creating environments for women to move about safely and get home without incident. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Public Policy from Boston University.

For me, cycling is rebelling against the norm that doesn’t see me coming. I live by the motto you live and you learn…and then you learn how to live.
