Malo lelei everyone!
Making our womxn feel welcome, holding space for the speakers and keeping our programme joyful and cracking for “Brown Womxn Who cycle” is our ta’ahine Tonga, MC Lusia Petelo. Highly energetic, experienced and unforgettable, Lusia has the poise and presence to ensure the hard and soft questions get asked, the free bike gets drawn by her (Yes, we’re giving away a FREE bike!) and that we start and finish on time.
Spaces are filling fast, as it’s only 5 days away on Saturday 26th August 1.30-3pm, so if you’re a womxn of colour who’s keen to cycle, register here. Bring your bike if you like, meet and engage with awesome people, like Lusia and break bread together too.
Lusia is a pioneer herself, championing menstrual leave at her workplace, Pacific Media Network.
In her own words, Lusia Petelo shares what inspires her and why she’s getting into cycling.

I’m Lusia Petelo repping the 676, hearty Tongan from ‘Eua, both the Niua Islands, Ha’apai, Lapaha, Kolonga & Fasi moe Afi, born & raised in South Auckland and is a proud Kiwi born Tongan! I’m a radio show co-host with Henry Hayden on Niu Fm ‘The Rush Hour’ on weekday afternoons from 2-6pm.
I haven’t been on a bike for a few years until recently at the gym, on the bikes that don’t move so that’s as close to cycling as I’m is getting for now. I’ve planned for the last 2 years to buy a bike to ride to the dairy & hopefully today is a start to get into that active bike life. I love quality time, memorable experiences & talking about anything & everything!

Malo ‘aupito Lusia. We can’t wait to have you hosting our event!
