Molweni people!
Here is our awesome third speaker for “Brown Womxn Who Cycle”: the astonishing Selina Burke.
Spaces are filling fast, as it’s only 4 days away on Saturday 26th August 1.30-3pm, so if you’re a womxn of colour who’s keen to cycle, register here. Bring your bike if you like, meet and engage with awesome people, like Selina and break bread together too.
In her own words, Selina Burke shares what inspires her and why she cycles.

I’m a cyclist and I’m half Swiss and half South African. I grew up in Howick, East Auckland and have always been involved with bikes from a young age. I would sit on the back of my dad’s bike while mountain biking when I was a young girl. Now, I race in BMX and mountain bike too. I’m on maternity leave at the moment with my 3 month old daughter, but before that, I had worked at cycling shops, My Ride and Cyclexpress Howick. I was also coach and project coordinator at The Ruby Project, a community initiative to get more girls into cycling. A motto I like to live by is ‘see the good in every situation’. Although it is hard, it helps me to keep a positive outlook on life.
Enkosi kakhulu Selina. We look forward to hearing your wisdom and experiences.
