Two days ago, our director, Louise Tu’u, rode to meetings with friends and work in Morningside.
Heading from her base in Ōtāhuhu, she rode from the train station and caught a train to Newmarket, where she waited and caught a train for the Western Line, hopping off at Morningside train station.
TIP: If you’re catching an Eastern Line train from Ōtāhuhu and hoping to change to a Western Line train, be prepared to catch a lift, go up to ground level and catch another lift, as the platform is on the other side. Ideally, you’ll wait for the Southern Line train so you don’t have to go through that rigmarole.
Meeting at Kind cafe then riding onto work in Grey Lynn, Louise rode up Inwood St, along Western Springs Road, then down a steep Don Croot Street, braking all the way (!) and following the road left into Levonia Street, right into Mountain View Road, left into Ivanhoe, left into Tuarangi, where she waited for lights to cross a busy Great North Road. Then she rode halfway and walked close to Grey Lynn Primary for work. Work went well and a different route home through Grey Lynn to Kingsland Station, changing at Newmarket Station then dismounting at Ōtāhuhu Station and riding back home.
After all, she only remembered to take photos along the Ōtāhuhu cycle path.
