Yesterday, the sun was shining gloriously and a little bit on the windy side in Tāmaki Makaurau/ Auckland. This weather along with hundreds of colourfully-dressed womxn and allies made the 2023 Auckland Fancy Women Bike Ride so much more fabulous and a great event. Every 17th September since 2013 worldwide, the Fancy Women Bike Ride is an annual group ride, which was held in Izmir, Turkey.
It’s an event for women, organized by women to call for infrastructure and inspiration. The more women who cycle, the more women will be encouraged to cycle.
In Tamaki-makaurau, as we see the sun first in Aotearoa New Zealand, we were also the first city in the world to celebrate. Massive thanks to Jessica Rose and Ayla Turker Yenidogan for organising this event!
