Tonight’s weather in Tamaki was sunny, warm and a chance to wear sandals and lighter clothes.
Our director, Louise Tu’u, attended the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board monthly meeting at MāngereTown Centre to prepare for an upcoming presentation. She decided to ride her push bike. Starting from Ōtāhuhu, Louise rode towards Māngere Road, then turned right into Vine St, finding her way to Wickman Way, then to Buckland Road.
As a driver, this particular roundabout can be hairy but thanks to her riding on the footpath, Louise sailed past all the stagnant traffic and ended at Bader Drive early.
The meeting was a great eye opener, in how local democracy works. Given the General Election of last weekend, Louise highly recommends attending one of these meetings to hear how these are run and was impressed by the board, their organisational skills and encouragement of public participation.
Here are photos on the ride back home. If you know where the last photo is taken, please share the love!
