Random Bike Rides: Future, Future

Last Saturday, we rode to a free music festival called “Future, Future”. It was a sprawling event with 4 stages, which encompassed 3kms of the central and west bike paths.

The windy conditions and intense and brief periods of rain made it a really exciting place to be, and most importantly, was the first time, we were clamouring for space with other bikes. Our travels started in Otahuhu train station, then switching to the Western Line at Newmarket and exiting at Mt Albert train station. We then rode from there to Harbutt Ave Reserve and were amazed at how busy, incredibly organised this event was with a mobile ambulance, a portable filtered water tank, yummy food vendors and free face painting.

To be honest, we only stayed at the Harbutt Ave reserve, as we bumped into so many people we hadn’t seen for ages and had the best catch-ups.

One recommendation we would have for this event again is to have mobile food vendors. We couldn’t be bothered waiting an hour for pizza so rode to Avondale shops, got a feed then rode back.

Fa’afetai tele lava to Interesting Things who organised this event. If you missed out, make sure you follow them and head to the next Future Future festival.
