Tonight, in the humid weather, our director, Louise Tu’u, had a hankering for fish and chips. So she rode around the local streets of Ōtāhuhu, distracting herself from this until she decided to ride to Ōtara and rationalise buying some before sunset. It also helps that she can log this ride (and you can too!) for the Aotearoa Ride Your Bike challenge here.

She rode down Avenue Road, turning into Water Street, left at Trenwith then right onto Curlew Bay Road, where you can ride on the seriously understated and glorious walk and cycle path to Highbrook and Ōtara. Louise continued along Highbrook Drive towards Ōtara, passing this beautiful sight below.

Then turning left into Bairds Rd and a quick right into Ashton Ave, she rode quickly as the sun was starting to set. It helps that the family with dogs have moved too! A quick right into Ōtara Road then left onto East Tamaki Road and Louise had made it, just as shops were closing. Thanks for the yummy chips and chicken Ōtara!

Returning home, Louise passed by a peach tree on Ashton Ave, drooping with fruit so asked the owner if she could take some of it. The kind owner said yes. Malo ‘aupito!

Turning left into Harwood Crescent, Louise discovered an unmarked and cool playground, which she googled later: Harwood Reserve. Check it out here.
Coming back home, she passed Murphy Park which was chocka of locals, playing volleyball, pre-season league and other sports informally and competitively. Long live summer.
