Random Bike Rides: Bike Hub Mt Roskill

Today, our director, Louise Tu’u, went to visit the Bike Hub Mount Roskill for the first time. There were many routes so she decided to train there as much as possible. Catching a train from Otahuhu to Newmarket, then on to Mt Albert, Louise rode on the unprotected cycle paths of Mt Albert Road. She then turned right into Owairaka Avenue, then the first left onto Tyburnia Avenue. It was a pleasant and quiet area, with lots of older state housing. Then she turned right onto Beagle Ave, left onto Aurora and headed down a laneway into Walmsley Park.

Then Louise rode over and crossed Sandringham Road into Elphinstone Ave and over the footbridge. There, she met Katie, the lead bike mechanic, who was working with a crew of volunteers, who welcomed Louise and also kindly posed for one of these shots.

Then Louise rode back the same way home! Check out the beautiful maunga o Ōwairaka in the background.
