Random Rides: Taamaki ki Taatahi/Seaside Park, Ōtāhuhu

Yesterday evening on a whim, our director, Louise Tu’u went for a casual bike ride in her neighbourhood of Ōtāhuhu, Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. The air was brisk and the light was still good so she rode out, with no firm plans on where to go. Heading first to Gabler Goodies on 89 Princes Street, an amazing Austrian bakery to check their opening hours, Louise was sad that they’re closed till the end of this month. She then crossed over the busy road, which was then in peak hour traffic past the Otahuhu Gurdwara and then just kept riding eastwards towards Taamaki ki Taatahi/ Seaside Park.

Rowers were out on the Tamaki estuary, another cyclist was also riding and people were chilling out on the large sports fields and playground. There is a short loop gravel path that has benches dotted along the foreshore, making the possibility to stop, rest and enjoy the view, a pleasant one.

It was nice to get negative ions and ride back home, buzzing from new sights and sounds.
