This fresh morning, our director, Louise Tu’u, went on a multi-modal trip (read: bike, train, a wee bit of walking and repeat) from her base in Ōtāhuhu to Avondale to meet a dear mate and go to the dentist (all good except for an urgent filling).
Here’s what they have for bikes in Avondale that is not available in Ōtāhuhu.

No photos Penrose, where she disembarked and rode down O’Rorke Road on the road, which is hairy with trucks galore. Louise then rode straight and turned left into familiar territory of Hugo Johnston Drive (tiny part), which interestingly, has an amazing bike and footpath (highlighted in pink).

This path gets shut down quickly by parked cars. We’re keen to get this extended so if you know who owns this land, please email us: talofa@weshouldpractice.com.
Louise then rode onto Great South Road, seeing familiar sights like this data bank and empty car yard, next to the Ōtāhuhu maunga.

Louise rode on the footpath because really, cycling here in Ōtāhuhu on Great South Road, can be a very scary experience. See below for the autonormativity of this suburb.
