This morning, our director, Louise Tu’u, cycled from Ōtāhuhu to Māngere Bridge School, to take part in an Auckland Transport, “Adults learn to ride on the road” workshop. All of these workshops are FREE. Since she has never ridden on the Nora Esplanade shared pathway, this was a perfect excuse to try it.

The path was still damp from dew and probably yesterday’s intense thunderstorms. No one else was on the path, except pedestrians and the occasional jogger.

Louise decided to take a short cut through Hastie Ave and ride the footbridge.

The workshop was really informative, practical and fun with great instructors, Shelly and Holly from BigFoot Adventures. Learning how to signal, corner tightly, brake safely proved to be absolutely essential, even on the quiet roads Louise and other cyclists rode on. Thank you for the reflector spoke thingies too!
Cycling home was definitely more informed by what had been learnt this morning .
