LE TAUVAGA (The Competition), the seminal work by Louise Tu’u about Auckland’s most popular extra-curricular activity for fob and hori kids, the Polyfest, comes into play this month.
It’s happening for one night only at Metro Theatre, 362 Massey Road, Mangere on Thursday 19th August.
Directed by Iaheto Ah Hi (My Penina, Sione’s Wedding) and ably performed by Shadon Meredith (His Mother’s Son), Natano Keni (Pirates vs Ninjas, Once Were Samoans) and Leilani Clarke (Bullrush), as well as support from students, studying at the Pacific Institute of Performing Arts (PIPA), LE TAUVAGA explores the effects and aftermath of this enormous festival on its leaders, participants and audiences.
Doors open at 6.45pm, reading starts at 7pm and entry is by koha. If you like what you see, you can pre-order a copy of the play for under $10. (Cash only)
