International Residency Workshops

with Louise Tu´u

Are you an artist or a tertiary student who has exhibited at least one solo work and would like to experience professional development opportunities overseas?

On Wednesday 10th October 1800-2000 and Thursday 11th October 1000-1200, Louise will be running niche workshops on how to apply successfully for international residencies and fellowships. Louise´s own vast experiences include her being the first New Zealand playwright to be successfully selected and invited to participate in the Royal Court International Theatre Residency in London in 2005.

She has since gone on to continue her practice as the director of We Should Practice and made distinguished works in an interdiscplinary method including To Fergusson with Love, Providence, Dead Mileage and earlier this year, O Le Tulipe Uliuli with Louise Menzies as part of the group show in Made Active: Chartwell Show in the Auckland Art Gallery.

Louise has held the Chevening Fellowship; invited as an international cultural expert by the Arts Council England to last year´s deciBel festival in Manchester; Fulbright alumna which saw her attend her play reading in New York, as well as being successful in procuring funding from Creative Communities, Arts Alive and numerous grants from Creative New Zealand. This year, she is one of the 16 Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellows in New Zealand and used her fellowship in London, followed by a scholarship from both Goethe-Insitut New Zealand & Germany and International Theatre Institute in Berlin.

Later next month, she is one of ten international cultural experts who have been invited to contribute to the dialogue at Tokyo Cultural Creation Centre.

There are only 10 places per workshop. Each workshop is self-contained.  To be considered for the workshop, please email a copy of your current CV to:

and a cover letter as to why you would like to participate in the workshop by  5pm, MONDAY 1st October .You will be contacted of your successful placement or otherwise by 5pm, WEDNESDAY 3rd October.

*Only currently enrolled tertiary students with ID will be able to claim the discount.
