Yesterday, we were lucky to visit and learn darning from contemporary textile artist Margaret Lewis at her final Visible Mending event at the 105 Vincent St pop-up in Auckland Central.
We also enjoyed and learn from Freya, who assisted Margaret and other artists in this space in other artistic workshops, which is now owned by Kainga Ora.
Here is a pic of L-R: Margaret Lewis, Ricky from Gribblehirst Community Hub and We Should Practice’s Louise Tu’u, with Louise’s newly darned (started in the workshop and in progress) sock.

Ricky and Louise both unknowingly came to invite Margaret to teach her amazing skills both out in west and south Auckland, respectively. Thank you Margaret, Freya and other staff, who welcomed us into this awesome space.

Using our parking time as much as possible, we also were stoked to make it to the Kosher Deli, NZ’s only Kosher cafe and shop, where we enjoyed a made to order and delicious salmon bagel.
