Fa’afetai a Auckland Transport from Cyc Ōtāhuhu

Last month, the Active Modes Sustainable Mobility team from Auckland Transport gifted Cyc Ōtāhuhu a selection of brand new chain locks, D-locks, bike lights, tyre puncture kits and waterproof bag covers. Since then, our director, Louise Tu’u, has been cycling around the Ōtāhuhu town centre, chatting with local cyclists and passing on these much needed and useful items to keep people cycling safely and most importantly, FUN.

Today on the first day of 2026, Cyc Ōtāhuhu gave away our last batch of Auckland Transport bike lights and waterproof backpack covers to grateful local cyclists, D and T. As they are minors, we have a photo of their amazing bikes.

Our director, Louise Tu’u, then went on to pump her flattish bike tyres at the local Mobil station and cycled around a very quiet and car free Ōtāhuhu. She checked out the sights on Station Road and Great South Road, the latter where she found free bread behind the Mauri colonial house and enjoyed cycling in empty carparks of the Taiwanese Hwa-Hsia Society of NZ.
