Tonight, our director, Louise Tu’u dove to touch the bottom of the pool many times, practised her freestyle and enjoyed chatting with other women, floating either by themselves or with the help of flutterboards or thin foam tubes.
Women only swimming sessions have been running here at the Kilbirnie pools for many years and are part of a wider network around New Zealand.
An incredible array of women from Afghanistan, Iraq and Sri Lanka were present, enjoying the chance to paddle, swim or do your own thing in the pools independently or in a group.
We warmly encourage women of all shapes, creeds and sizes to find out where their nearest pool is that allows them to use these women only swimming sessions to relax, exercise and sororize!
