Wananga-a Kai workshop

Today, we spent an awesome winter’s day preparing hangi with fellow interested peeps at Te Mahurehure Marae in Pt Chevalier, as part of the Matariki Festival .

Nikau for life

What made this event amazing was the sharing of how to make hangi on a community by the very experienced organisers, Rewi Spraggon, Riki Bennett, Eynon Delamere and the rest of the team at Auckland Council and the coming together of people from all sorts of backgrounds and countries to make and break (kawakawa fried) bread together. There also was heaps of media interest in the event, which made it surreal.

Thank you all for making it a fabulous event!
