Otara Walking Tour

Last Friday, as thunderstorms came and went, our director, Louise Tu’u, joined the Otara Walking Tour, organised by Auckland Council and Inclusionz NZ and funded by the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board.

It was a fantastic way to meander with others and discover the local amenities such as the Te Puke o Otara Community Centre with Zonder, the Otara Pools and Leisure Centre with Vince and Brendon, the Otara Library with Hoko and Chris, OMAC with Marie, Fresh Gallery with Ema and photographer Amalia and finally, Otara Kai Village (OKV) with Tash, Harmony, Sione and Lorenzo.

Gillian Tuala from Auckland Council, Apulu Reece Autagavaia, chair of the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board, Jean Chen on behalf of Rosa Chow from Inclusionz NZ and Manukau Ward Councillor Lotu Fuli also joined us.

Fa’afetai tele lava, Malo aupito and kia ora to the local board, Auckland Council and Inclusionz NZ for such a wonderful initiative to move through local spaces and become empowered to know about facilities that are there to serve the community.

We’ll leave the last word for two of the lovely participants, Cathy and Shaneen, to share what they thought of the walk.
