Manuia le Kilisimasi outou uma/Merry Christmas everyone!
Our director, Louise Tu’u, was due to release her e-book, “”Acting in commercials for Pasifika women” five days ago on the 22nd of December as advertised, but didn’t. WHY?
Why is it not available yet? Lack of time, motivation, organisation, purpose? Was she too ambitious? Did she not take into account Xmas and other statutory holidays? Was Louise and We Should Practice too much of a buildups? It’s a mixture of these reasons and feeling tired. Louise is feeling bummed out and embarrassed that she didn’t finish in time and have it ready to sell to you so there’s that.
The consequences of not finishing are people, not believing in you anymore, a loss of face and reputation and your own diminished self-esteem. Spiralling and unhelpful thoughts such as, “If I can’t finish this project, maybe I can’t finish anything” and /or “I’m a loser”, start to appear, which can be destructive and mean you don’t show up again, which would be a shame and mean the world would miss out on your voice. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a bona fide tragedy but an obstacle.
We decided instead of altering dates on past posts or giving excuses as to why Louise didn’t finish, to ‘fess up and come clean. It
Does this sound familiar to you? Have you promised to make things and not delivered?
