Tonight, we were treated to hypnotic, soothing and glitchy atmospherics at the Fale Maota, formerly known as the Maota Samoa complex on Karangahape Road.

Curator Leali’ifano Albert Refiti joined the musical collective of Leafa Janice Krause, Salvador Brown, Samara Alofa Autagavaia, Sione Faletau and others, as they played at the far end of the fale, in front of projected stills from the exhibition: Oceanic Architectural Routes. At the conclusion of the performance, Leali’ifano commented that they would have played in the middle, with the audience, around the performers and that there were some players missing from the night’s soundworlds.
